About
Welcome to Earth Sweepers, promoters of a litter-free future for society.
At present Earth Sweepers is a collaboration of volunteers who collect litter left behind on public lands throughout the country. The refuse is sorted for recycling purposes and transferred to appropriate sites. Our goal is to become so established as to have paid staffing to maintain, oversee, and coordinate the projects and volunteer staff. Funding will enable us to grow and expand our efforts on a national and global level.
Earth Sweepers began as a group of friends enjoying the weekends on the bank of the Salt River near Mesa, Arizona, where they couldn’t ignore the massive amounts of litter floating by. With water bottles, beer cans, coolers, shoes, wallets, even marshmallows floating right past them, someone had the brilliant idea of standing in the river to see how many items he could collect. Quickly the friends joined in to collect as many items as possible. By the end of the day they gathered so much trash that each person made several trips to the nearest dumpster (approx. 1/2 mile) and still, did not have enough resources to dispose of it all before sunset.
The friends decided that this was a great way to spend the day; having fun and working toward a great cause. For the rest of the season, the group was hanging on the banks of the river, collecting litter and properly disposing of it.
Years later the incorporation of Earth Sweepers was founded by Bridgette-Trosclair Vasichek, a visionary with hopes of expansion on a global basis along with awareness, prevention, and recycling programs, Kids Camp Litter, and more.
Everyone can be an Earth Sweeper! We accept humans of all ages!
